Liturgy must be proclaimed and celebrated in all cultures in such a way that it is not abolished or suppressed by it but redeemed and fulfilled’.
Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1204:72
There is no denying music’s impact and ability to unite hearts and minds. With this understanding and with a desire to contribute to the enterprise of Catholic music in more creative ways, Jubilee Generation established an alliance with The Catholic Religious Education Development Institute [CREDI] in 2009 with the intention of developing a series of short programs for liturgical music.
What emerged was the introduction of two programs to reflect the objectives of the SYNOD in February, 2009 i.e. The Diploma in Pastoral Ministry with a specialization in Caribbean Liturgical Music Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree program in Music Education. The first program was designed to advance specific resolutions of the SYNOD regarding the improving of the standard of Caribbean Catholic music. The second aimed to support CREDI’s vision to train, educate and form teachers who could competently ‘initiate a new values based approach to teaching and learning in the schools of Trinidad & Tobago and the Caribbean; one in which the human being has value and great worth before God and man.’
We managed the program from November, 2009 to January, 2020 and have moved on to develop new and exciting initiatives.
